Kilifi is situated halfway between Mombasa and Malindi, on the beautiful Kilifi Creek, where the Rare river estuary meets the Indian Ocean. A relatively large town, it is the hub for a number of resorts, farms, and residential properties. A popular port of call for yachts sailing the East African coast - with calm moorings and useful facilities.
The main beach in Kilifi is Bofa Beach, an idyllic sandy beach on the northern side of Kilifi Creek. Kilifi also has a colorful history, and the Mnarani ruins, which date back to the 14th Century, make for an interesting visit and a sense of stepping back in time amongst the old mosque and tombs.
