Nyali is a district immediately north of Mombasa Island. Nyali was first connected to Mombasa Island by the Old Nyali Beach, a pontoon structure built in 1931. The New Nyali Bridge was built in 1980 spanning the tidal Tudor Creek, allowing for a far greater flow of traffic, and an accelerated growth rate on the north shore. Nyali is a relatively affluent area of Mombasa - with numerous hotel resorts, a golf club, restaurants, bars, shops, businesses, and wealthy residential areas. Beaches in the Nyali area include Nyali Beach and Bahari Beach.
