Dandora started up as a Wold Bank funded project back in 1977. The aim was to establish housing that would be affordable for those who moved to the city as a result of Industrialization. However, the estate grew to have shacks and have turned out to be among the largest slam in Kenya. The has a reputation of being the home of many pioneer hip hop artists in Kenya. The good about the place is that the living cost is quite low. The bad is that security is wanting and infrastructure is poor.
